Sometimes, if we are lucky, our roles are well defined from the on set of the formation of a team.   More often they are not.  At what point does it become our responsibility as a team member to be conscious of what role we have taken on?

The team will go through a natural progression of first forming and then storming, norming and performing.  Have you ever watched your reactions to these stages as you work through a team project?  Does your behavior shift as you receive feedback over time?

For example, do you find you need to be “the hero” and have all the answers?  If so, how have other’s reacted to your proactive behavior?   How can you bring about teamwork into this role?  What do you think the motivation is for your need to be the hero?

Or perhaps harmony on a team is very important to you.  Do you see yourself acting as the moderator as you facilitate the processes of the team?  Again, how do the others respond to these actions?  What kind of feelings do you have when disagreements arise?  Do you sense that others share your sentiments?

We all bring our baggage to the table.  How often do we stop and take a look at it and think about how it is impacting our relationships as we evolve together through the group process?

If it is at a time in your life where stress is building to take you over it is often hard to step back and observe yourself with any positive results.  When we are “out of sorts” it is hard to see ourselves clearly.  This is the time to take advantage of those solid relationships we have developed over the years.  See if you can get the gentle feedback you need to make the right choices from those you have grown to trust.

Or, if you are ready to have a closer look at why you choose and behave the way you do hire a coach.  A coach can be a consistent objective observer who is entirely focused on your needs.  Reflection is a complex process.  We all can get wrapped up in our own belief systems to the point of justifying behaviors we haven’t checked on in years.  Is this serving you well?  We won’t really know until we have tested them out.  Learn to become your own truth teller.

I downloaded the Renegade Professional on Nov. 4th, 2009.   Today is November 30th.
This first month of discovery of the Renegade process has been both very exciting and totally overwhelming.  The message I get as I listen to Mike’s video tutorials is that I am in orientation.  This realization helps me focus and concentrate on whatever the learning is for that day.   The month has been a combination of reading, thinking, composing potential messages and watching tutorials from the starting check list.

My thought process has involved exploring whether this is a match for me.

• Is working an MLM business a match for me?
• Do I feel I will have integrity if I put my name out there on the internet attached to the MLM business model?
• If so, should I add it as a blog category on my professional coaching web site?
• What area of expertise should I focus on?
• What do I have to offer MLM business owners?
• Will the fact that I have failed at so many efforts impact my credibility to pull together a team using attraction marketing?

I entered into these thoughts over and over again periodically throughout the month.   I wanted to get far enough into the training material to see what it felt like.  To see if I had the patience and the stamina to get through the steep learning curve.
So, in one month I have created my personal web site – but then chose to purchase a domain name and create a special blog on WordPress for this aspect of my coaching business.   I have started a Squidoo Lens and spent quite a bit of time on my personal account page.

My biggest question was “Where do I start with the content about offering Ann Sieg’s material to my current downline and other MLM business friends?”   I am still working on this one even though I found the links to the provided lead capture pages.

I do not want to go on tooooo long — so, one more thing.
I am fortunate to have had three solid days by myself, without any distractions to just focus on getting a start with this process over the past few days.  This has allowed me make a leap in clarity and closer to answering the questions posed above.   I highly recommend large chunks of uninterrupted time to develop a plan of action and to get yourself familiar and comfortable with the pace of the process.
